It really is anything more than two.
It also depends on context.
If you said "I have a few dogs" it may mean you have 3 or 4, but saying it for 5, 6, 7 or 9 dogs would seem weird as 5 dogs is quite a few or even a lot.
But, if you had $9 in your pocket you could easily say "I have a few bucks" and it would be a good use of the word.
Basically, if it's common to have a lot of something and you only have a little, you can use "few", but if it is common to only have a little of something, limit it to 3, 4 or 5.
But don't use it for 2 as 2 is "couple". |

Absolutely! I have had this discussion with co-workers, and it seems definitions for a couple, few, and several are quite vague. I would say four would definitely fall into a "few," though. |

I've been led to believe that "a few" is technically 3. I believe it is 3 or more within limits of 5 (?) and under. |

There is no specific number used where the word few is used.
The definition for the word few is more than one but not a lot.
So yes it can be 4,
Take the movie " A few Good Men" It is using the word few to mean not many.
so few to one person may mean 3 or 4.
to someone else it may mean 5 or 6. |
