I thought this was the case but I did a search on line to make sure and this is what I found:
"The Agency for Workforce Innovation announced on September 30, 2005, that Florida's minimum wage will be $6.40 per hour effective January 1, 2006 for all hours worked in Florida. This represents an increase of 25 cents over the current state minimum wage of $6.15 per hour. Florida's minimum wage was created in a constitutional amendment approved by voters on November 2, 2004, and covers all employees in the state covered by the federal minimum wage."
Then I found another website that said this:
Florida’s minimum wage is $6.67 per hour effective January 1, 2007 for all hours worked in Florida. This represents a 27¢ increase from the $6.40 per hour minimum wage in 2006. Florida’s minimum wage was created in a constitutional amendment approved by voters on November 2, 2004, and covers all employees in the state covered by the federal minimum wage. |

Minimum wage is a federal standard, but state can mandate to pay more such as Oregon adjusting wages with the consumer price index. Georgia's minimum wage is 5.15/hr which is also the federal rate, which is well below a living wage. |

Michigan just went up last week, from 5.15 to 6.95, with two more increases withing the next two years to take it up to 7.40. Unfortunately, we are the state with the highest unemployment rate (at least in statistic charts.) |
