I dont know, how about 100 per week? I pay a daycare for my 3 yr old $200 week, but it is a 9-5 thing in a city area. |

How old are you and do you have experience? Do you have a Red Cross class under your belt? I think that your answers to these two questions will have a lot to do with the response. If you are underage to get a job where you would be paid minimum wage, you most likely can't expect to get paid more than that now.
You're only watching one 8 year old child. I would watch 4 children and get paid $10-12/hour. Since you're watching for longer periods of time, you might want to discuss a daily rate based on minimum wage ($5.85) for the first 8 hours (~$6/hour) and time and a half ($9/hour) for the extra "hours"...so maybe $50 for 8 hours and an extra $18 if it's a 10 hour day. $70-75/day would be completely reasonable. Another thing to take into consideration is if it's at your house or theirs, do they provide food for you or do you provide food for them? It sounds like your too young to drive, but I may be mistaken. If you can drive and they allow for you to go out, will they pay for gas/expenses for outings?? Lots to consider including how much the parents can afford, I think that would be the best thing to do...ask them what they believe is reasonable and start your negotiations from there if you do not agree. |

10 to 11 hours is is worth $75 in itself, and then multiply that by 5 and you get $375, but i would charge a lot more than that cus its a lot longer than a normal working day. maybe $100 - $150 a day. so $500 - $750?? |

I'd say anywhere from 8-10 dollars an hour. That is a long time to babysit someone and you definitely deserve more than that, but I think 8-10 is fair and is a good place to start especially seeing as it's only one child. If it were more children, I'd say set your hourly wage higher, but 8-10 an hour should be good. Also, I wouldn't set a weekly price because then they could possibly use you for longer hours per day and end up not having to pay you because you set a weekly rate, rather than an hourly rate. I'd go with the hourly for sure. Best of luck to you! |

hmm, well the average hourly wage for babysitters is anywhere from 6-11 dollars an hour. i would say ask them what they would be comfortable with paying you and tell them what the average wage is. |

well minimum wage is what you should ask for but you can be flexible with that amount what do you think is fair and how well do you know the people you will be sitting for?
say take two dollars off of the minnimum wage.
I hope this helps. |

i doubt that the parents are going to let you set the hourly wage. Just be happy if you get something reasonable. It's only one kid how hard can it be. |

Considering it's an 8 year old which is pretty much easier to handle than toddlers and babies that you have to keep your eye on 24/7. I would maybe shoot for $10 an hour, because it is only one child. And it seems like your going to have him for quite a bit of hours so the $ will add up. (Maybe if 9 an hour) but I don't think u should go for more. I used to work in a day that paid only $8.50 I watched 1st grade up to 25 to 30 children in one room. Hope it helps, GOODLUCK! |
