How old were you when you left home or are you a young adult still living at home?
More young adults are chosing to stay living with parents and become financially stable before venturing out.

I'm trying to bring some intelligence back into YA. Anyone can tell me to zip it anytime! :)

I applaud the young adults who are staying at home longer in order to gain financial stability. We are probably the only society that has such a dispersed family. When I was 17, I joined the Marine Corps. I thought it would make me a better man. In some ways it did, but it really didn't teach me anything about financial independence. Also, the families I know that stay together longer tend to be more spiritual and have more of a religious life.

I was 18 and off to college on a scholarship. I spent summers at home but worked and went to summer school while living with my parent's home. Then back off to college. Once you live on your own, it is more difficult to go back and live under your parent's rules.

I left at 18 for studies but then had to move back to my home town so moved back in though with a sepparate front door and stuff. I'll move back out as soon as I finish my phd. My parents believe it would be better I concentrate on it full time instead of working so I can finish it in the minimum time frame.
