Seems pretty silly to me. I think they should work on catching the gang members and reforming them, rather than preventing all the non-gangmembers from engaging in certain activity. The problem isn't that people are wearing pink shirts, it's that gang members are beating up people for wearing pink shirts.
I just don't think public schools have their eyes on the ball when it comes to this sometimes... |

It's like that all over. But, it's not always "gang" related. Some school districts have implimented dress codes so that so-called "disadvantaged" youth don't have to feel inferior when their more well-heeled schoolmates can afford all of the fancy, name-brand clothes and accessories, and they can't. |

Parents aren't parents anymore. I think schools should just go to school uniforms for the children's protection. I have heard that pink is a gang color, baby blue, and that Mickey Mouse is a symbol. Children are simply not children anymore yet instead of parents taking responsability it is blamed on the media. |

Is this a question?
I think uniform should be required at all public schools. That way there will be virtually no dress code issues.
But I think it is always better to be safe than sorry. |

Yeah, lack of discipline. That and their parents didn't take enough time to talk to them about how stupid it is to be in a gang. And sometimes kids don't listen anyway. It's a number of factors that are beyond your control. |

I hear ya...my son is in preschool and cannot wear a Forty-Niner shirt to school because of gang affiliation. It's a little pathetic but I'll tell you I'd rather be safe than sorry! |

Im really sorry she cant wear her shirt to school.
Its really unfair isnt it.
Now and days kids cant wear almost anything or they will get in trouble.I cant believe they think a first grader is wearing something gang related. If I had a first grade grandaughter who couldnt wear her shirt,I would sue the school, transfer her to a new school,or make sure someone does something about it! |

Well, my name is Ciara and I'm in the fifth grade.Well, there is a lot of bad kids at my school but they are not in gangs. But once you get older of course kids just change like crazy. And there is a lot of parents who really don't care about their children so it does make some kids do really crazy stuff. And I bet your right it is probably lack of discipline. But I have tons of friends that have parents that don't care. Lots of my friends are aloud to ride there bikes without permission, and can ride all over the city. That's why I am kind of scared sometimes to meet their parents! |
