It's FINE as long as you KNOW who you are sending it to. DON'T be fooled into sending it to somebody you don't actually know .. there are a lot of scams out there .. you cannot get your money back if you are scammed!! Typical scams are ..for example they send you a "cashiers check" for something they are supposedly buying from you ..but the check is MORE than the amount for the item .. they give you some excuse and tell you to send the balance to them via Western Union .. you do it and later find out the "cashiers check" was a forgery and is bad .. BE CAREFUL .. don't do it unless you are sending funds to a family member or some known person that you trust 100% ..otherwise you WILL get ripped off..you have been warned!! |

ive sent money with western union at least 12 times in the last 6 months, it always gets there OK, but if youve been asked to send this as part of a foreign lottery as a claim fee, then somebodys trying to scam you. If you know and 100% trust the person you are sending the money too, then its not really an issue |

Previous answers highlight the main point, in that it is very safe, if you know, or trust the receiver, as it is possible to take the money and disappear without trace. |

i've received money by western union from someone in France, I didn't have to pay and fee and also it was very secure as I needed all sorts of ID to be able to collect the money. so as long as it's legit you'll be fine |

Western Union is safe. If, however you are paying the money to someone in New Zealand with a bank account ask them to supply you with their bank details and do an International Money Transfer through your bank. This is the safest and least expensive way of transferring funds. I would not advise you to use Paypal. |

Working and living in the Middle East we were advised NOT to use Western Union for transfer of funds.
Sending cheques was the norm or internet banking sending monies direct to accounts or let your bank do it
I'm sure you'll here plenty of money problem transfers but you have to think safe. It is your money after all. |

Have never used Western Union Money Transfer. However, as a former telegrapher, I have to tell you that of all the surviving telegraph companies, Western Union comes high on the list of 'most trustworthy'. |

Very safe. Used to use it all the time for paying my online college course fees. It was so simple and you always had all the reference numbers etc if things went astray. |
