If you are going to be using an accounting package, then there should already be standard formats set up there. In most packages you can modify this to get what you want out. |

Use a stock design. MS Word (and other word processing programs) have designs you can use, and you can insert a logo of your own -- paying to have it made, scanning it to a JPEG, etc. |

I use Print Shop Pro. It cost me about $40. It has hundreds of templates for business. It also has many other forms that you might use in your business. Good luck. |

Some advice on UK issues!
VAT invoices have very precise requirements, best to consult a lawyer and a printer for them.
Non-VAT invoices can be designed simply at home the only requirements is your company name, the buyers company name, the goods ordered quantity, and amount due. There are so many books out there, you could just wonder around a big bookstore and choose.
If you are a person, surely you or someone you know has been sent an invoice in their time. Ask to see them for some inspiration. It helps to keep invoices to a normal format as it makes them confusing to read if you strie off with what may be unique and distinct to you, but confusing for payers. Confused or troubled payers take longer to pay the bill. |
