How to turn around the "what kind of salary are you looking for?" question?
During a interview what is the best way to answer the question "what kind of salary are you looking for?". Of course we all want to get the most they are willing to pay for us right? Any suggestions would help. Thanks

First you need to find the range that your job is going for. There is usually a set variance in your region. If you do not have experience in that job shoot toward the low end and if you have a lot of experience, degrees, etc then ask for the high end.

The best advice I can give is tell to tell yourself that you deserve the job but don't need it. If you can gain that perspective (even if you need the job) your confidence will give you the salary you want/deserve

Be honest...tell them you are epecting equal or slightly higher than what you were being paid at your prior job.
They know you want money...they want to see if you are going to be extremely greedy or extremely cheap...its more of that they want to see what your personality is.

do some research before hand... and see what the average is for that job... if anything else.. just put out a really high number.. and then they will come back with an offer. good luck!

I would say that Im looking for a salary that is very competitive with the other workers. Knowing that you'll be better than the other employees, ask for a 10-15% increase from there salary.

"How much does a person in this position usually make?" It puts it on the THEM to throw out a figure.

Give a range. Be honest about your own skills and also your budget and come up with a realistic range. A well thought out answer will be much appreciated by a prospective employer and is worth more.

you should have a figure in mind so you just throw out the figure!!!

Ask what kind of salary people of that position usually make and how often or what type of raises they can expect to receive. Then base the answer you give them concerning there question on their answer.

on that will increase as i progress

well, I think you can just say I am flexible and just beforehand check what the average salary for that kind of job is...it is not easy though..if they offer you less then that means you'd better to run away....my opinion is a kind of job that you are being exploited is not worthed
