Sometimes it depends on your area. I, personally, like a variety. |

That's not true in all instances--but I see what you're saying. I think it's a comfort zone type thing. Sometimes trying to make friends with other races is tough, because there's stereotypes about every race/culture. Some people already dislike you because you have these prejudices against them & you haven't gotten to know them yet. So, I believe it's all about comfort. With your own race you know the ups & downs, ins & outs. You don't have to worry about how they're going to judge you, because you're both of the same. |

IT'S THEIR COMFORT ZONE |

i dont know, it could just be that they are racists or they might have just hung out with their race all their life and are intimidated by the other race. but i see no problem with interracial friendship, as my best friend is black, while i am white |

People in general like to be with people that they have things in common with. Because so many people grow up in places where everyone is the same race, they don't always know that they might have something in common with someone who is a different race. So it's important to point out what we have in common (sports, school, music, the weather...whatever) until you get to know the person better. |

Still confront them as a friend weather they hang with their own kind or not just because a person hangs around people of their own orgin dosnt mean that they wont hang with people pf other races they may not feel uncomfortable break the ice but it defitnitly would hurt to mix and mingle infact its not cool not to |

People with similar interests and history like to hang out. Yeah, it's a racial thing, but so what? It's not racial differences that are bad, it is the myoptic hatred of stereotypes that is nasty. You can only judge a person by their character, and that is an individual thing! |

This is more common in USA, anthropolist can't understand why anglos since centurys before used to meet and make families with only anglos, this some kind of rejection made black people do the same in spite of both belong to same culture and language. |

cause we live in a racist society, its too bad, its sad... but some people are not like that, and they are nice and inocent of these bad things, and you can meet them and hang out with them |

I don't think it's about the race. I'm caucasian, but I don't only hang out with people because they are white. I think it's more like a culture thing. I have a lot of friends from Mexico, Ecuador and we hang out a lot because my roots are Romanian and our cultures are very similar. I feel good when I have something important to share with people from other countries or regions. |

I assume because of either... a) they're prejudice or b.) they seem like they fit in better with their own race--and in some cases, they may feel like they can defend themselves better, while hanging out with the same race. Have you noticed some blacks hang out with one another, when they want to jump a white girl? Sound familar. Sorry to offend you, if you're black.
Good luck!

well it could be that they live in certain areas were there isnt alot of racial varieties. like me for example i live in a school distric were we have mabey 10 kids from a different race. not because we are prejusice it just happend that way |

Because kids learn social interaction from parents or guardians. Most people don't understand or are scared of different races. When people are unsure or scared they think and act in a negative manner, therefore they dont think of the things you could learn or experience from other cultures.we still live in a ignorant world. |

Not all races hang out with the same race. For example black people just don't hang out with black because some black forget where they come from! Or white people hang out with broke black people. |

People hang out with their own race because they understand eachother, they have more in common such as where they come from and how they were brought up. |
|

Because most people like that are scared of other races. |
