Certainly, but unless you're gay and already out of the closet, I wouldn't advise you to wear open-toed sandals or go barefoot. Young male gays can be the targets for a lot of abuse. So if you're not gay, or if you don't know whether you're gay, it may be best to paint them at home and remove the polish before you go anywhere.

Yeah, you know I have thought of doing the same thing. I think we owe it to society be individuals.
I think if you want to paint you toenails or fingernails why is the purpose? And are you will to give up your social status! I mean many ppl are going to think you are gay and, I guess that they would have good reason to think so.
On the other hand we males need to be more stylish and give that hard core got-to-b-a-man attitude.
I have used clear polish but, no one can see that. I have worn lip shimmers before ESP when I go out for the evening or mascara when I am going out for a nice night. You don't have to tell anyone what you do.About wearing ploish there is so many chemicals in that stuff. So if you don't need to wear it then seriously consider it :)
I will say that it is supper hard to live a double life style. Trust me I know from experience.
