Yes I believe that Jesus died on the cross at Calvary and arose from the grave 3 days later. I believe in what the Bible says. Yes i believe in Jesus's death and resurrection as the reason for the celebration of Easter. As for the egg hunts and stuff, its a nice way for children to celebrate, but my kids, even though they participate in these events, also know the true meaning if Easter! |

I believe that Jesus did die and rise again, but the origin of Easter was actually a pagan tradition to worship Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon name of a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility, to whom was dedicated a month corresponding to April. Her festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox; traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts. |
