It is just as safe as using your credit card in a store. I have used it for many years and have not had any problems with it. Their are protections in place to protect your information as much as possible. Youc an either store your credit card or use a bank account. I would recommned using your credit card, because it's much easier to receive a recovery of your funds should something go wrong with the transaction.
Good Luck! |

It's very safe to use. It's owned by eBay so that gives you alot of assurance right there. |

Paypal is pretty safe. It is owned by eBay and it was a great way for eBay to gain double on the already high profits it receives from auctions/sales.
But now people can have a paypal shopping cart and stuff for their sites. Don't loose you login information! You have to have a valid email address so make sure no one else uses or has access to your email.
You may consider, if you are still real worried about it, setting up a new bank account at your local bank to use specifically for your paypal purchases/sales. Just get a plain ol' checking account. That way you don't run the risk of them ever having your life/info hacked and completely destroying your credit. |

It is one of the safest accounts you can have.
I use it more than my own bank account because PayPal basically works as a bank account.
Key differences though are:
1. PayPal uses your email as your banking number.
2. It's online only and no physical locations.
You can transfer money from a bank account to your PayPal account, or have people transfer you money straight into your PayPal account.
Just go to the website and they'll have plenty of information about it. |

Had an account for years and never had a problem. Safer to buy on Ebay and other online stores using PayPal than using regular credit cards. Sellers prefer people with PayPal accounts. |

Yeah Paypal is safe. I've been using it for several years. Alot of sites use PP to process payments such as Ebay. You link a bank account or debit/credit card to it and the payment is deducted from there. They offer buyer protection as well. You can dispute payments if necessary. It's pretty safe. Good luck. |

Paypal works like a third party system. You pay paypal, paypal pays whomever you're buying from. Vice versa if you are the seller. There is a small 'service charge' to the transaction though. After payment is made/received it sits in the paypal account (which is like an extended bank account) until the person receiving the funds withdraws and deposits into their actual bank.
It's, in my opinion, the safest way to send money over the internet. They have high security standards and will help you out if you are scammed. I have personally used it for countless domestic and international purchases and have yet to run into any sort of complication.
I can only speak for myself though. |

Yes - as far as I am aware, it is very safe. Everybody uses it. I actually got my computer, modem, speakers and a cd through it. Just google paypal and they will let you know how to go about setting up an account. You DO have to give them your credit card number or your bank account no. That's obvious because as soon as you bid on something, [like an auction] you are liable for the cost of the item if you win the bid. You can also buy outright [that is, not bid] and they have to make sure that they can get the money to pay the seller, otherwise the whole business would crumble, as many would decide not to pay. Go for it! It is hassle free once you set up the account and no money is taken out of your bank or your card without your ok.
The "service charge" is only payable if you're selling something, not if you're buying. |

It is really easy to use. As far as safety, it is only as safe as the person using it. |
