Nothing, they are humans just like everyone else. We all belong to the same race, that is the human race. |

1. It is frustrating when reverse racism occurs: "Bush doesn't care about black people". Or the whole deal where every time a cop pulls over a car with non-caucasian passengers, it is called racial profiling. No matter what the situation is.
2. Affirmative action was an odd one too. An employer or higher education school needs to have the right to hire/enroll the best candidates. Hasn't it gone on long enough? Is 50 years of this long enough?
3. Ebonics: Is conjugating the verb "to be" really that hard? "I aint be chillin"
4. What's up with the phrase "you know what I'm sayin?" and why does it need to be repeated every third sentence?
5. Tyra Banks. Anyone else find her superficial and annoying? Ok, that one is specific to one individual and not a race as a whole… but I couldn't help it, she irks me ;-)
6. Rap: Why are really bad rhymes considered good? Worse yet, the rappers seem proud of the fact that they made a rhyme: "He said he was gonna killa while he was drinking his 40 of milla". |

What would you say to the industries, land owners, corporations, and social clubs that still exist today that profited from slavery?
We are not in Africa no - but to compare African-Americans to any other ethnic group is just simply not the same. Your grandpa was not forced onto a ship and brought here from Poland. You don't possess the skin pigment that can be easily identify as different so your experiences can not compare to a an AFRICAN-AMERICAN person. There are institutions that are still in place today that began during that era. And yet people speak of change.
THEIR IS NOTHING THAT IRRITATES ME ABOUT AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN OR ANY DIVERSE GROUP PERVIOUSLY EXPLOITED. |

The fact that you are the one asking the question that make differences between the race's. If we would all think of ourselves as one people with one history then we will find that maybe there would be an end to racism. |

My pet peave would have to be the pervasive stereotype (perpetuated by an earlier answer to this question, ironically enough), that African Americans are incapable of grasping - and fully commanding - the Enqligh language. Further, it is most certaintly NOT okay for Blacks to call each other racist names, as a previous poster alluded to. This is yet another stereotype. |

some african americans have nothing that irritates me, but recently one girl who is african american was on my school newspaper. she was asked what she thought about the chinese exchange students at mys chool. the girl said it was a bad idea and most of the school's population was asian so the exchange students had no effect. many, including myself, were extremely mad. i know many people are very racist and do not really like african americans but some african americans are racists themselves. |

I've gotta go with the person above me. I've got lots of friends that are 'American of African desent' (I don't like the term African American because it denotes that being African is more important then being American, and we're ALL American first. (note- not you people from Canada or illegally here.)
I get annoyed by things like affirmative action. Believe what you want but I grew up with less money 90% of the people on here right now.
And slavery? Yeah, it sucked, it really did. But judging the past by the standards of today doesn't work. My great grandpa was turned into soap in Poland, does that mean Germany owes me some land? Of course not. It sucked, but it happened. We ALL need to let go of the crosses we bear and stop looking at things racially.
You say that you're African American? When have you been to Africa? Did your dad migrate from Africa? I don't call myself Polish (well, if they ask what my heritage is, I do.) I call myself AMERICAN. I was born here. My dad was born here. My grandpa was born in Poland, so he could be Polish. I'm American, and proud, and I think that if everyone took the same stance as me, that we're American first, we'd be much better off. |

There is absolutely nothing at all that bothers me about African Americans. I cannot understand why white people have to hold stupid grudes against someone just because of they're skin color. I can't believe that after the Civil War and the whole Civil Rights thing in the 50's and 60's that people in this country still are not treated equally. It says that all men (and women, please!) are created equal in the Constitution, so why can't this be true? I am disgusted with racists. I have nothin' against you, girl! |

I have MANY African-American friends who agree with me on this one.
It is that SOME African American people STILL believe that they are not treated equally by all societies and that the "white man" is still the oppressor and that we want to rule the world. SOME African Americans feel the need to constantly say "Proud Black American", but would call a white person a racist for saying "proud and white". That African Americans can have their own scholarships, colleges, cable channels, clubs, etc. But any other society cannot or if they do it is looked down upon.
I once out of curiousity (because of a comment I had heard on t.v.) asked my "African-American" friend Leah once, "What would you be prefered to be called? African-American or black?" She said simply, "Leah."
If we could get over this line of color vs. color and get on with our lives together unified, AMERICA could be a great place to live.
Me, honestly, I think that Oprah would make a great President. Not because she is black (or African-American) but because she is smart, confident and well-liked. |

Honestly.. only this.
Racism. I'm tired of this reverse racism crap. White people can't call black people a racist name. I understand it, I agree. However, why can black people call each other the same name, AND call us 'whities' or whatnot? Can you imagine if I called you 'Blacky'? You'd be insulted, and rightfully so.
Not to mention things like "BET", or "Black Entertainment Television". Can you imagine if I started a "White Entertainment Television?" The world would implode. |

The race is not the problem. It is certain people of the race, and this happens with every race....
Stop blamin white people for all the problems. Black people helped force other black people onto those ships. Affirmative Action is wrong...you should be ashamed that you got a job because you were black and not because you were more qualified. Stop making yoursel stand out. People who speak ebonics are retarded sounding. The same people who get an extra edge on college applications were the same people who didn't pay attention in my english class because rapping on their desks was sooooo much more important. And everything else everyone said up there.
Stop blaming. Get educated. |

The fact that some refer to themselves as "African-Americans." You were not born in Africa. Your family has been in America for 100's of years...(in most cases) My best friend is black, and refers to herself as black. The only other annoyances are those that won't let go of the past. |
