tkf57 | I am an ebay seller - having problems with a buyer - can anyone help? |
I am an established ebay seller with over 2000 sales under my belt both UK and Overseas - i have this buyer from Canada who expected next day delivery from UK - he keeps emailing me asking where the item is - i posted it on 12th september via airmail - have provided him with prove of purchase via email etc., yet he stil persists in emailing asking where his item is - he is asking how long it takes to post and tells me i should know this - whilst Royal Mail state approx. delivery time of 5 days - I have known airmail take anything up to 2 weeks which is what i've told him - i don't know what else i can say to this buyer - i'm geting a bit fed up with his emails - what can i do once the parcel has been posted? have you had any experience in buying overseas either from Canada or parecls goin to Canada from UK - how long did posting take etc., any ideas what more i can do to put an end to this? my feedback speaks volumes i am an honest ebayer - i also dread the feedback he may leave? |

Its my understanding that you provided him with the details of what you were going to do (ie airmail) before you sent it, he effectively agreed to this and therefore a contract was formed. If he really did mean next day (UK to Canada) that would have been extremely expensive; DHL, FedEx etc will do this but there are time deadlines and although they 'guarantee' it they are often having to hand money back because in reality it doesn't happen. It would have been in the order of at least £40, he would have had to agree to it first as you would've no doubt not sent it until you had the money.
If he didn't stipulate that the next day was imperative, then he has no redress. If he had specifically said 'I need this by tomorrow because .. reason being birthday, contract with another etc, then they may have an area for complaint if you replied OK it will be there, then sent through a service taking 5 days min. However from what you say, & I agree with the other postings, you have no need for concern.
You may have to write one more time, stating geographic distance, service limitations, quote previous correspondence from them where they agreed to this and say you feel you have done what was asked of you. At all times be extremely polite, do not give them any other cause to complain. Ebay do have a dispute procedure, bottom left hand side on your 'My Ebay' page. Link below (may not work as it may relate to my account not yours ~ sorry).
Sad to say, the person may think the UK is only 'round the corner.' Its the usual Abe Lincoln thing .. 'you can please some of the people ...etc Good luck. |

As long as you have proof of postage whats you worry. just send him an email with a copy of postage and a tracking no even if you have to make one up.
Any seller myself included have sold Saturday afternoon and received an email on Monday asking what happened to item.
so dont worry item insured your covered |

Just reply curtiously and professionally with what you told us. I hope you have some sort of tracking with the package. Tell him if it doesn't arrive after the 14 days you will investigate what happened.
If the feedback is unsatisfactory you can always dispute it or leave a reply to it.
Not much more I can think of. |

If he leaves you bad feedback you can at least leave a public reply to it to show your side of things. I too sell on ebay and most people are great, but every now and then you get one like your buyer. Best thing is to grit your teeth and keep answering his emails even tho you may be repeating yourself, and then when he does receive his item, put him on your blocked buyer list!! Good luck ! |

all you can do is contact him again, politely explaining (as other posters have said) that you have fulfilled your side of the bargain and posted the parcel in the agreed way. you have provided proof of postage already so if your buyer also purchased insurance, then he will be reimbursed in the event of the parcel never turning up (and mail can be very unreliable - i once sent my mother a birthday present, posted on 14/11 from the netherlands for her birthday on 02/12. it didn't arrive. not for her birthday, not for christmas, not for the new year. on 23/03 of the following year - one week after i had received a letter from the postal services saying that they had been unable to track the parcel - i received a phone call from my mother: it had arrived! and had travelled to cambridge via canada...) if he did not, then i am afraid that it is not your problem. you could consider leaving negative feedback for him... |

Hiya, I am also a seller and sent a necklace to a buyer in Canada about a month ago, she got it about a week ago, or at least thats when she left feedback, so I am assuming it can take up to two weeks. I would send them one e-mail saying, I am sorry for the delay but it will be with you shortly and explain that although it states five days, usually it takes about a fortnight, and then ask them to contact you when they have received it. It is not your responsibility to be chasing these things up and worrying about it, you have posted it and obtained proof of postage, the seller sounds to me like they are a bit too pushy for their own good. Unfortunately, the postal service will not hurry itself for a pushy buyer and they will just have to wait. |

As long as you can prove that you sent it and have tracking what are you worrying about? Did he pay for insurance? If he didn't that's his problem.
You can't force a person not to leave you negative feedback, Giving good service is what helps you avoid negative feedback |

Sometimes we Ebayers have to accept that a small number of our customers live in La-La Land, of which your Canadian seems to be one. Does he realise he's bought from the UK or does he think he's bought from the US? Or does he think we Brits deliver by super-magic Concorde Delivery service?
Royal Mail is usually very good, but the fact is it can take up to 2 weeks even with Airsure.
Tell him you will contact RM on Friday but that he should contact you in the meantime if it arrives
All the best |

I have had things sent over from Canada that have taken 6 weeks, and other things that have taken 5 days- there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason with overseas posting! did your buyer take out postal insurance? if so, you should be able to keep a track of where it is, if it has been signed for etc.
Hope this helps. |
