I am new to ebay!! I have recieved an email that I dont understand?
I received an email from a buyer stating that they want to purchase my item directly instead of through bidding. They are offering me a great price but want to pay through paypal. They asked for my name and paypal email what is that and where would i find it.He also wants me to ship it global to Africa how much would that cost if I live in the US

it is illegal (against e-bay rules) for someone to offer to buy something WITHOUT e-bay involved... i don't know why a buyer would offer to do that... usually people selling things try to get you to buy things they don't have listed yet... hmmm. take your package to the post office and have it weighed. ask them what it would cost to ship the item to africa, there's no other way to get the amount! THEN send an e-mail back giving him the shipping rate and tell him to place his bid... that you don't know how to stop the listing! then you're safe.

Why not try a online biz ttp://tinyurl.com/jzs3u It is easy to do.

This whole deal sounds shady to me. I would just let the item go through the normal auction procedure. It really sounds like some sort of scam. Be careful.

That is an old scam with a new twist.....please contact eBay and DO NOT give out any personal information in an email to any one.........

l would insist on the buyer bidding through ebay, there are lots of scammers that try this, and especially ones based in Africa.

I'm not new to ebay and I STILL get emails and (bills) that I don't understand! Lol!

Do not make the transaction! It is against ebay rules to do so! He must either use the buy it now option or go through the bidding process. The thing seems fishy since he not only expects you to break the rules, but he also wants you to ship out of the country. You need to go to the ebay homepage and in the right hand corner there is a ? and "Live Help" link. Click it and talk to a rep about it. You should definitely report the email. Good luck hon!!!

Personally, I wouldn't do any business on eBay, if I were you, until you have complete understanding of how everything works...take your time and carefully read through eBay and PayPal (owned by eBay), and make sure you understand how to protect yourself before you do anything...if in doubt, call Paypal.

I would be EXTREMELY CAREFUL in doing any transactions with this individual or party. The fact that they don't want to go through PayPal is a MAJOR RED FLAG. PayPal is there for a reason. It's a guarantee that you'll receive your money and if this person wants to bypass ebay and pay you directly, then chances are, you'll never see a dime. I would contact e-bay to see if they have a purchasing/selling history on this potential buyer before you do anything. If they don't, do yourself and many other potential victims a huge favor and report them/their e-bay ID to e-bay and for God's sake, please don't go through with this transaction.

go to www.paypal.com and register an account. go to post office to find out the shipping. if i were you, as a seller, i would add several bucks for your own profit from shipping, since shipping to africa is very expensive, he won't know if you have added a few bucks in shipping.........

No don't do it... I am always receiving bogus emails.. If in doubt go with your gut... also always check your customers feedbacks it says alot... if they don't have any... then assume the worst and that way you are protected
