How about some healing mind & body workshops like: finding your inner God/Goddess, astrology, numerology, tarot, mythology, Jungian dreams, hypnotism, color therapy, scent therapy, acupuncture, herbal therapy, sexual or sensual therapy, art therapy, homemade remedies class, poetry and journaling classes, various diet classes (Raw Food, Vegetarian, Vegan, etc.). You want to help people to get to know their inner selves as well as healing their bodies and let them take away something they can use for the rest of their life.
Make the atmosphere depending on your budget and if you want it to be:
Natural-outdoorsy use wood, trees, earth colors, and natural fabrics. Think of integrated worldly and tribal settings.
Rainbow-colorful use bright, cheery colors, fun furniture, unique artwork (possibly by local artists), and shiny fabrics. Think of daycare centers or modern museums.
Tranquil-peaceful use pastel colors, soft fabrics, serene landscapes or ocean pictures. Think of ancient Roman-Greek architecture and times.
Modern-sterile use grays, black, red, white, ash, stone, and linear, clean lines. Think of the 1980-1990's simplicity in art or Chinese culture.
Rich-luxurious use gold, bronze and silver colors, gem stone colors, sparkle and sheen fabrics, large ocean and sky scenery, gilded mirrors. Think of ancient Egypt or Victorian days.

You should incorporate a dental office into it. Find a good dentist that you feel comfortable with, your client/their patient would feel more at ease before receiving dental care. Both you and the dentist benefit. As far as your ideal setting, I think darker colors are more soothing. Also, a fountain that runs down the wall is calming. Fish tanks with soothing lights and sounds is also a good addition. |

What about alternative health stuff, like vitamins, "green" products for daily living, etc. I like the colros of water--blues, greens--I find them soothing. You could also look towards opening a shop that offers products like yoga clothes, mats, bags, towels, etc. Child care would be a plus too! |

How about Reflexology?
As to decor, I would suggest soft colors. Flowers (probably have to be silk, hypo-allergenic). Soft, comfortable overstuffed chairs, instead of those hard bench like chairs in other waiting areas. Fountains are a good idea. The water sounds soothing. |

Reflexology. Aromatherapy. Hypnosis. Chi-Gung (qi-gong). Tai-chi. Classes on how to do these things as well. A space people can rent to teach their own classes.
Fountains, crystals, soft new-age music, candles. Singing bowls if you know how to use them. Floor pillows. Back-jacks. VERY clean, lots of light and softness. I went to one where they had draped the ceilings in fabric to hide the florescent lights--nice effect.
Up to you if you like bright bold colors (jewel tones) or softer pastels.
Massage tables should be extra-wide and very padded, very sturdy.
You might want to keep religious icons (such as Jesus) to a minimum or else use icons from many religions to show openness.

Sell some New Age books (like the New Age section at B & N) and if possible, even have some workshops, lectures with topics like "how to reduce stress," "how to find inner self," "How to use minerals and rocks for healing," etc. Of course, sell whatever you mention during the workshops. I think tea sampling (instead of wine sampling) would be great, too. |

Perhaps Bowen Therapy and Colour / Chakra Healing could be incorporated.
As far as colours and decor go - probably nothing too gaudy or over the top. Colours should be of a natural, pale shade, with maybe a feature wall. Light apple green or a light ochre colour would be nice. Plants and or a strategically placed water feature, some nice background music - not whale songs, rainforest / bird sounds or the ususal relaxation music - that all gets a bit cliche after a while.
What about something mellow yet funky like Cafe del Mar, or maybe some muted tribal music from different nations??

Make sure that it's bright and airy. At the same time, make sure that there is enough privacy too.
What you don't want to do is, make it sterile like a hopital.
As to what else should be offered, accupunture is a good one. But you need a certified person doing it. |
