Funny as heck, but clever and sneaky too. If you buy books occasionally you can probably get away with this for a long time. If you buy a lot of books he will eventually figure it out. Have you considered actually going to charity shops rather than pretending? |

Why not just be honest about it? I would rather want my wife to tell me the truth about it than to say it was cheaper. |

Why are you so quick to lie to your husband this way? Shame on you! And to have so many books, you must not be reading much because you can't even spell the word "sneaky" properly. So I wonder what it is you are getting from being so quick to lie to your life's mate? You need to do some soul searching and get real before you really mess your life up. This is a crazy reason to lie to him! Get reality soon! |

You don't get books for 50p in charity shops anymore. Decent titles are around £2.50.
I have found some great books in the one near where i work, in great condition as well.
I only started going in as there is no WH Smith (or the like nearby) but i enjoy a good rummage now.
I don't agree with lying to you husband by the way, sorry. |

50p !!!!!
my wife would have her house keeping money stopped for a week if she spent that much on a book.
you must have one of these new men im always hearing about. |

Sneaky.
Why don't you go to charity shops, buy books for 50p and keep the money for yourself, at least then your deceit will earn more money.
Better still, go to the library and borrow books, and keep all your money. |

You obviously have no scruples about lying to your husband. Does he lie to you? How does that make you feel? It is unethical, devious, and dishonest. |

Clever ; but why should you have to hide what you have spent on a book? |

Crazy. Does your husband deprive you of new books????? I would tell him the truth and tough poo....you wanted it so you had it. It's not like it's a £5000.00 watch. |

Brilliant!
Reminds me very much of a story I read in a magazine - a woman's husband offered to buy her a new outfit, so they went to her favourite shop. She picked an outfit, and was putting her own clothes back on in the changing room.
Unfortunately while the assistant was wrapping it up, she forgot the husband was there and called out "Shall I put it in the dry cleaning bag as usual?"
I thought that story was very funny but I like yours better because I'm more likely to want to hide books than clothes!
Couldn't you just tell your husband though? I'm sure he spends his money on stuff you don't approve of from time to time! |

neither, if you have to do that, then your marriage is not
honest and secure. |
