I drive 1,5h to my work one way and another 1,5h back. What can I do during driving?
Everyday I drive 3 hours to and from work. Have you got any idea what can I do during driving to not loose the time. Now I hear music and make phonecalls. Give me an advise.

You really shouldn't be doing anything else whilst driving. Listening to music is fine but you shouldn't really be taking and making phonecalls... even with a handsfree you will become distracted, especially as your journey is a long one and you'll most likely be tired after a days work.

My advice would be to either look at car sharing so you have someone to talk to, investigate public transport options so that you can read a book or whatever on your journey or get a job closer to home!

Turn your journey into a UNI on WHEELS and get educated. Do personal development stuff and I guarantee you, your life will change if you apply what you learn.
Get an ipod and airplay and you can listen to your ipod over your radio station in the car.

I spend a lot of time traveling in my job (my car, taxis, airports, hotels etc). I use that time to 1) take language courses (from CDs) and 2) listen to informative/educational podcasts.

All you need is an MP3 player. Before I thought that all the time spent traveling was just wasted. Now I long for it. And the best part of it is that most of what I listen to is free.

If you listen to your MP3 in the car, make sure do it in a safe way. Get a car kit and an iPod, for example.

Download free lectures online (wbgh in Boston has some really cool ones). Burn a CD and then listen to them on the way in so you learn stuff! Don't try learning Japanese though...I did.. and it was so hard that you wind up laughing and not paying attention to driving:) Also, can you car pool with someone... that way you can talk and/or sleep

If you're into yoga..you can try breathing exercises too
Or bring a recorder along and recite your life story..make some money from it so then you won't have to commute so much!

PS I never learned Japanese...Domo Arrigato! (Mr. Roboto)

I used to to do that. But now, I live nearer to my office. I think you better think the same.

oh my gosh that sucks!! can you take other transportation like a train or bus? if so, you can read, sleep, work, listen to music, make phonecalls or do pretty much anything and you wont be "losing" time.

if driving is your only means of commuting to work, then maybe you could get audio tapes or cds of a foreign language. you can teach yourself a new language. you can get tapes of pretty much any subject youd like to learn more on. maybe you can get a novel or good book on tape as well. youll feel better about using the time more constructively.

pay attention to your driving so you don't kill anybody!!

Unless you are such a good driver you don't need to then... read a book.

Hmm... my best answer would have to be an obviose one "pay attention to the road". other than that I'd say you might listen to music but to be on the safe side thats about it.

Get Sirius and listen to Howard Stern, his show is the best!!! www.sirius.com

Drive carefully.
Not much to do if you're driving.
If you want to do something, take the bus or train.

Learn or brush-up on a foreign language.

There are a few things you can do. One thing that I used to do was listen to audio books. It's nice to be able to actually read (listen) to a book while driving, as long as it's something you are interested in. Another thing (even though I have never done it before, was to get a CB radio, or even a Ham radio. You can meet alot of interesting people on these. *Note, you need a license for ham radio.* Do you know anyone who lives around your area who works in that direction? If so, it may be a nice thing to car pool. then you have the chance to talk and relate to someone while driving. And this would bring your gas and milage on your car down.

6 hours of a working day wasted on just driving to and from it. Must be worth it! Maybe you can think about gettin another job closer to home.
