I find Yahoo Answers to be a waste of time and energy: does anyone agree?

Jan
No. If I found Yahoo! Answers to be a waste of time, I wouldn't be here at all. I like being here because I find some good questions I can give honest and serious opinions/answers to and maybe I'll get to help someone with something they really had doubts about.

No, this isn't a waste of time at all. I really enjoy this site. It gives me the opportunity to help others help themselves. There are so many hurting people on this site. I sometimes wish I could give them all a big hug, letting them know that someone cares. Sometimes, all they need is a swift boot to the head! For the most part, what they need is some good old-fashioned advice...something their parents should have informed them of years ago. It's unfortunate that many adults aren't teaching their kids the basics. They're just allowing their kids to wander around, finding their own way. The problem with that is they'll often take the advice of their peers, who often don't have a clue either. PARENTS...listen up! If you don't teach them, SOMEONE will. If you aren't passing on your values, someone will pass on theirs. So, was this a waste of time? I think not. I always give honest answers, based on my experiences through living a very full life, and with having raised two full-grown children...who turned out to be fantastic kids. Though sometimes my answers aren't always what some people want to hear, it is solid advice that has been tried and tested. And I agree with some of the others. Some of the questions SEEM to be a waste of time all around. But, if you look deep enough, you'll find that there's something more going on...just like with your question. I'm not going to bash you because you asked your question, like some of the others will. I know that some seemingly dumb questions come from people who want more points, or just for attention. Even though most of my answers tend to be long, I enjoy doing this. It's a way for me to give myself to others, who won't ever get the benefit of hearing good advice. That's never a waste of time. <*)))><

I don´t, if you are wasting your time here, go and look for something else.

Yes & no, depends on the questions & answers...

It's a good thing to do when you're bored. And I enjoy dispensing wisdom. I also agree with everyone who's said it: If you think it's a waste, don't do it. No one is forcing you to.

hdchackz
If you like helping other people then this is the place to be. If you're just here for points then yes it is a wast of time and energy.

Not at all, and if you are here I think you may ask yourself "Why?" if you feel that way!

MrCool1978
If you find it to be a waste of time then why are ya posting here?

burn20out
Yes! But I can't stop! Its an addiction. Maybe Yahoo should start an Answers Beta rehab program.

alternative measures
No I don't find it to be a waste of time, but a thought process of both interesting and typical questions.

Althought the thought of being censored by a topic police is scary.

And I have gotten suggestions that have helped me.

Rev. Still Monkeys
In a way, but only because of the inane questions that some people seem driven to ask. If we had topic cops, who could move or delete questions, I think things would be better.

cowenamanda
yes as you can ask a question that you desperately need an answer to and some people think that it would be good to take the mike and leave charcastic remarks which just arent funny.so i totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO you can learn common sense, get homework help, exchange ideas, set up a poll, discuss professional, news, academic, work issues... It's not a total waste of time.
