Oh my gosh, I am dealing with this myself from someone who worked for me. He let me know that he had just found the check. Asked if he could cash it. He can't because I no longer have that checking account. So what I advise you to do is to approach your boss, inform him of this, bit the bullet he may yell at you again, and see what he can do for you. What I am going to do is write him another check, void the one and advise him that he needs to cash the check once he receives it. If he does not, in writing, I will not issue another.
What happens honey is that you mess up our books. When you find one from a previous year it mess the whole books up. With small business checks and balances has to work. It does not seem to be a big thing but in reality it can be. It is not a perfect world.
Remember, you worked hard for that money, when you receive it, you should cash it. Also see if your employer will do a direct deposit. If he will than go for it. |

Checks usually have something like "void if not cashed in 90 days" printed on them close to either the date or the signature. Check with the bank where the check was drawn on for that account. Most of the time 6months is the standard limit if not printed on the check. |

A lot say how long it is good. If not cash it. Let him know and also let him know you will try not to do this again. Talk to him for a minute about something he is happy to talk about for a minute first. |

yes i think you can still cash it, but before you do, talk to your boss and ask if it will mess up his finances, if not go ahead. If he says yes, then ask him to make multiple check that will add up to 130$ and discard the old one. But then you would have to cash them as soon as you get them. |

You can try to cash it....most banks refuse them after 90 days, but some will let them go through.
As far as what your boss will think about yoru record-keeping skills, his aren't much better if he hasn't balanced his checking account in 6 months. Can't help you with that one. :) |

Call the bank that it is from and see if they will still honor it. Most banks time frame for check cashing is 3 mos-6mos but there are some that will do it for up to a year. If it is a payroll check it should still be good! |

Your check still should valid, but it's not a good habit to get into.
Most checks will only be honored for a specified lenght of time. On many checks it is clearly stated on the face of the check.
Cash it! And don't let yourself get into this habit, it's not a very good one to have. We're not talking about a hunk of paper here, it promises to pay you MONEY!
But it might not be any good if keep it too long or you either deposit it into your account, or cash it!
If you keep it too long, it could revert back to just a hunk of paper! |
