My understanding is a bill for work done, goods delivered etc must be issued within 3 years of delivery/work done. if not issued within three years then you may have an option to refuse due to the time lapsed from date of receiving the service. PS don't take my word for this, it is my understanding, check with the citizens advice, or similar body, to confirm. In your situation, providing you can check and confirm payment taken or not, then if payment not taken you are liable to pay this account |

Did they do the work? Was it OK?
Of course you have to pay!
Interesting how many people want you to use this as an excuse not to pay. I think that's called theft. |

well, yes, but be sure to check your account to make sure they are right |

You will need to refute their claim. Find your old receipt for that billing period and show that you paid. If you cannot prove that you paid already then you have to pay. |

Yes, however you may be able to barter a reduction as the mistake was not your fault |

You could always ask them to provide proof that the bill WASN'T paid when you originally gave your card details. Which i imagine is impossible for them to do. |

Of course!!! I had a similar thing. You pay what you owe. Or they can and will turn you in. Its called integrity anyway. |

Sure.
You got the service, and unless there is a charge for it against your credit card, you still owe it, |

Did you expect to pay when the work was done? Did you not give the company a credit card for the work? I suppose that you could get out of paying on some technicality but is that what you want? If your boiler is repaired why do you have an issue over payment? I guess it is an ethical choice on your part but you do owe for the service in my opinion. It doesnt matter that the bill is over a year old. I would feel differently if the job were bungled and you didnt receive the repair you contracted for or the job was faulty. Then maybe you have an issue about nonpayment. |

Yes ! if IT was you , and you had made a mistake wouldn't you wont to get payed? just try to keep better accounts in further |

tell them you are the new owners and see what happens? let them prove your not?
i wouldn't be happy paying for something 12 months later especially if i'd thought i'd already paid it! |
