If you have no debt to put it towards, I would buy CD's with it. They have pretty good interest rates that they pay out. The amount you earn is better the longer you take the CD out for.

I would buy stock in Raytheon.

If you are looking for a change of pace you can start a wide variety of businesses with that amount, so long as you're not looking into a retail business. (I've helped clients start businesses with a whole lot less. In fact if you did want to start a business most of that would probably go to replacing your paycheck during the typical 45 day pause in income.)

If you like your job and all is going well, i'd suggest small business investing, finding one that you are comfortable with. The returns are usually a lot higher and you're actually making a positive difference in someones life.

Just my suggestion.

Don't buy stock for now, better get some CD's, find the bank with the best rate. Or take your money to a company like Vanguard investments. Right now the stock market is too unstable, so I don't suggest you going solo.

i can give you a few things to do but i sure can give you some things not to do..DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT invest it inthe stock market. you will lose every cent. take it from one who lost $40,000 in the stock market and that taught me a lesson. my best advice to you is put your rmoney in a sock and hide it under your mattress or put it in a savings account at the bank. either way you will know where it is and you are not at the mercy of money hungry stock brokers. if you put it in the bank you will draw a little interest and it will be there when you need it.

It really depends on if you are taking a long term or short term view of things. If you just want a short term investment I would suggest and on-line savings account from hsbc or emigrant national. If you are taking a long term view and are able to stomach some risk I would suggest the stock market. While it goes up and down in the short term, in the long term it will give you the highest returns. The key is to diversify your portfolio (Don't put all your eggs in one basket) and select stocks that have the right risk/reward inverse relationship for you. A good rule of thumb is the smaller the market capitalization (Total market value of a stock the more risky) Research before you buy, and do not micromanage to much. In the long run you ll be happy you did this.

I can say, save it, I don´t know your financial situtation but anytime you can save money and in the future you want to borrow money from a lender, the lender will see you can save money, it is a history in saving money. Just like paying your bills, you build a good credit history. Keep saving, it the best advise and in the future you will have a bit of money that you can do something with it and you won´t neet any help from the internet.

ETFs are cheaper than mutual funds. ETFs have very low annual expenses, nearly 20 basis points or 0.2% less. As against this, actively managed mutual funds show average expenses exceeding 135 basis points (1.35%). This does not include the extra 2% - 5% as loads, 12(b)-1 marketing fees, transactions costs, and soft dollar expenses mutual funds, passed on to you but never informed, except in very fine print that nobody cares to read.
