Firstly take a deep breath and don't panic. Remember that it is their loss and this could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Work out what you want to do with your life. Is there anything that you have always wanted to do but responsibilities held you back. Apply for unemployment benefit while you sort things out but do not lie back and get lazy. If you were fired through no fault of your own, you former employer is required by law to pay you unemployment. So may advice is file for unemployment, and start looking for a new job.

It depends on where you worked and how long you been working there. If you only been working there for some months it shouldn't really matter but if you was working there for some years then you should try to get your job back.
