If they dont give you a reason why to call them back, it's probably a scam. There's been one going around that charges people as soon as they answer. One is $100/min. Until they give you a good reason, block the number. |

It is telemarketing. Answer, and then whistle loudly in the phone after you tell them you do not accept telemarketing.
Then go on line to www.donotcall.gov and register your phone number. It is free and it will stop the phone calls. You need to do it soon because it you have done it before, you need to re-register.

according to Google.com, that number shows up on a list of numbers that are used to "phish" for information. You may want to check your credit report to be sure your identity has not been compromised. above all, don't answer that call! |

You can always put your phone number on the Do Not Call Registry:
https://www.donotcall.gov/
That way if it is a sales person they cannot call you and if they do, then you can report them at the same web site. |

I heared in the distant past of a scam that involves somehow the number you reply to is able to then use your number to make any call it requires and you foot the bill. If you contact your supplier they should be able to block this if you cant do it yourself. A number I used t use for bad calls was 0800661441. Try it to see if it is still active, its free! |

Well it will never do you any good to run from a bill collector. I have never had a telemarketer leave me a message to call them back, and if they do leave messages normally they tell you what it is for. I would suggest calling the number because hopefully you have nothing to hide and maybe they are reaching a wrong number. Sometimes people provide companies with incorrect cell phone or phone numbers so it could just be a wrong number. My advice would be to call them and see whats going on if you want the calls to stop. |

probably a telemarketer bcuz they can call cell phones now too if thats what they called on. i get them mostly on my house phone answering machine saying to call back and what not. i dont. it obviously isnt that important if they keep trying to contact with you thru the phone. ignore it. |

866 numbers are toll free numbers - it looks like the ones I have been getting that tell me to press 1 for their credit card, but if you are expecting bill collector calls it could be that. |

You can try a reverse directory (hundreds of them on the internet) or you can continue ignoring the calls. My recommendation to you is you go ahead and answer it - that way you'll know who it is. It could be a bill collector or a telemarketer - if sdo, you should negotiate to pay the bill or get on the do not call list. It could also be a wrong number - (bill collectors get the wrong number some times) It could be a long lost relative or someone trying to give you a million dollars! You won't know until answer.
Also, if it is a bill collector, be aware of the fair collection laws in your state and federally. They can keep the calls down and protect you - once the caller knows you are informed, they will abide by the rules and won't call you all the time. |
