For spyware solutions, Spybot Search & Destroy works very well. If you are willing to try Microsoft's beta, you can also consider defender. Both are currently free.

Always remember that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. That said, do not visit unknown websites, open suspicious emails and attachments, or click on links that you don’t know what it’s for. Also, always keep your anti-spyware and antivirus programs on. These simple guidelines will save you from hours of headaches with pop-up ads and computer slow down. Good luck and have a nice day!

Hey! How are ya? I understand your situation completely, I've been through it, and I'de like to help.

Often, true anti-spyware programs will not pop-up and advertise to you. Infact, the irony of the situation is you have spyware on your computer, advertising an anti-spyware program. Funny circumstance.. I'de like to direct you to a few -free- antispyware programs in the intent that these will probably remove that popup, and help speed your computer up in the process. :O)

Here are 2 common Anti-Spyware Programs (They are free, No Hassle):

Spybot Search and Destroy:

Lavasoft Adaware Personal Edition:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

An Alternative Web Browser (Free)
A browser switch to Mozilla FireFox may save the day. It's free and worth a try.
http://www.mozilla.com

And finally, CCleaner (CrapCleaner) is a program for deleting junk files, internet history, temporary files. This effectively speeding up some areas of your PC that can slow it down over time, and frees up some space.
http://www.ccleaner.com

Any of the anti-spyware programs listed above (Adaware, Spybot, Microsoft Anti-Spyware) work great in conjunction with CCleaner. I'de run them both once or twice a week! Don't forget to defragment your computer every few months! Good luck, you won't regret using these programs.

It might be an easy fix, or it might be hard. If it happens as soon as you open your browser, your home page might have been hijacked. If that is the case, open your browser, and from your top menus find the url for your home page. change the url to a known site (www.yahoo.com). Then close your browser, and re open it. Hopefully you will be on Yahoo, and you won't see that spy-ware site again.
If that does not work, try running a system scan with your anti virus soetware. Good luck!

You need to download a spyware cleaner.
Try spybot search and destroy.
Trojan remover.
Ewido anti-malware.
They can be hard to remove you may have to try a few times.
They can hijack your browser and your desktop and make changes to your computer. Make sure your Internet security is fully updated.

Lucky
Download Adaware free program check for updates and run it.
Do a Virus check on your computer If you are unsure of your anti virus software you can get a free online scan from Bitdefender. Adaware and Bitdefender links provided below

cavalier
Download the free yahoo tool bar with an anti spyware. Run the anti spyware program and you will get rid of that pop up.

Need the name, we had one on the computer at work that could not be removed. Had to format and reinstall everything. I would probably try Spybot search and destroy and lava soft Ad-aware first though.

This becomes a problem when using shareware or other programs downloaded from the net. Even the best popup blockers are no good if you got an ad based program like Kazaa Lite, or WinMX. There are several solutions for that. If it is an ad based program that started the problem, you may be able to fix it by removing the program and all of its affiliated programs. If so, or not, you can try running a virus scan program, and sometimes it will find the file that causes the popups. Then you can have it deleted, or quarantined. That should solve your problem. If that doesn't work, you may have to to a total system recovery. That means copying all of your valuable files to some other media (e.g. portable hard disk, or cd/r). Then you will have to reformat your hard drive and load the system disk from scratch... assuming you haven't thrown that away. After this is done, then you can put your files back on the computer. For instructions on this, I suggest going to g4tv.com and opening a free account. They have lots of knowledgable technicians who can help with lots of problems.
