Definitely. Whether or not you signed it, whoever picks it up could sign it and cash it. Canceling one check is no big deal, there are about 250 in each book, right? I'd rather be extra careful than just hoping for the best... |

You didn't tell whether any amount was written on it and also whether it was bearing your signature. In those cases you must immediately notify the Bank to stop payment and then formally cancel the cheque in the records. |

Is it safe to assume that the check you lost was completely blank? If this is the case then it probably wouldn't hurt to call the bank and let them know what the check number is. They have the capability to issue a stop-payment for a specific check and will alert them if someone attempts to use it.
If you had signed, dated, and/or written a dollar amount...call the bank and report the check lost IMMEDIATELY!! With your signature on the check, anyone can write their name in and cash it!! |

If it is signed, you should call the Bank as fast as ever possible!
If it is not signed, you still should tell them since it might be stolen or something like that. It is possible that People can cash it even with the wrong Name under it. |

Cancel it right now. Someone you don't know could be filling out the payee space as you're sitting there waiting for answers. Or worse yet, taking note of account/routing number, and forging your signature. |

There exist too many variables...
Was it signed?
From the time you last remember having the check and the time you noticed the check missing, have you been in any public places where it might've got lost?
I mean, if you want to be 100% certain, then the answer is to put a stop payment on it.
On the other hand, if it might've got missplaced in your car or in your home, or if it was just a blank check, there might not be that much to worry about. |

Its very very risky.Inform your bank immediately in written application along with all details of cheque number etc and do the stop payment.take acknowledgement from the bank on the application you submit.this is the only and appropriate way and it will 100% solve your tension and problem too. |
