I've seen both of these sorts of Prom dates when I went to my prom.
My best advice is to take the person who you would have the most fun with. Your friend sounds like the better choice if you don't like your brother. Why go if you aren't going to have fun? |

If your best friend needs a date then have your brother take her and see if she has a brother or cousin to take you or just the three of you go and enjoy yourselfs.
Did you ever stop to consider that maybe the same attitude that you have with your brother is displayed with other guys and that is the reason you don't have a date. |

You could round up a few other stags and split a limo-ride! If your friend and your brother have no acquaintances among your classmates they're going to be bored and hang on you. That may keep you from mixing in. If your admission allows only for one guest it may as well be a date. Find some male and female stags, go together, show up in style. You'll look like couples, but your not! Sound like an evening free of obsessive hang-ups. |

If you don't get asked go stag. Your brother is a bad idea. Does the term "redneck" mean anything to you? I went to my prom stag, had a lot of fun and hung with others that came stag, and some friends. I did meet a special someone that night to, and if I had a "mercy date" that would have never happened. |
