I am taking the fall for someone's work not be done on a day I was out sick, and management agrees it was my fault. the person who really should be blamed is everyone's buddy. I have a lot more projects than this person, I don't usually have time to talk to people. Plus I don't work with the friendliest crowd.

I wouldn't worry about it, they are trying to test you. Show that you are better than them and let it roll off your shoulders. If you press the issue they might try to get rid of you. |

I hope you are actively seeking employment elsewhere. Sounds like you're in a no-win situation. If you've tried talking the individual responsible into owning up to it, and they have refused to do so, then you are in what's commonly referred to as "The sh!t locker". You need to get out fast. |

How can it be your fault if you were out sick on the day you are being blamed for? I wouldn't ignore it. I would request a conference with the individual that should have done the work, and all of the people you have to answer to. If you allow them to make an example out of you, it will continue. However, if you stand up for yourself, you will most likely be more respected for speaking out and defending yourself in the right way. |

It's certainly not your fault, you didn't ask to be sick. Your type of work sounds like the same thing my mother is doing and she has the same problems as you do and they "play their favorites", it's frustrating.
I don't know what to tell you to do in this situation. As difficult as it may seem you just may have to tough it out. Are you able to discuss it with HR? Can you sit and talk to the management one on one?
Maybe you can ask to move to another team or if you have been with the company long enough and their are other positions open, apply for one of those.
OR you might want to hang in there until you are able to find employment elsewhere.
It sucks and it's frustrating, I know, but sometimes it takes just standing your grounds with them or if it doesn't work going elsewhere as weak is this sounds, but everyone deserves better.

It's no fun being the mule that carries everyone else's load. I would always suggest leaving. However, you should decide for yourself depending on your situation - the job market, your skills, etc. I would not let anyone give you the blame for something you didn't do. If you take it, you will soon be getting the blame for everything that goes wrong. |

make arrangements to sit down and speak with the boss. be CALM & POLITE, honest, and open minded. clear the air with the boss, find out exactly whats expected of you. and work hard as you can to be the most productive worker that ever lived....AND [this is important], dont worry about what others do or dont do . dont wory about what others get or dont get. if at the end of 4-6 months you still dont feel you're getting treated fairly , start looking for other work if things do get better ask to see the boss again and ask to be reviewed for a raise |

Take notes...good notes. Next time the trouble starts, whip out your handy dandy notebook and give them the facts. I would also go to my boss and ask for a clear, concise explanation of what my job description is. |
