Have you thought of eBay? I mean, you might even get a good price for your camper there. It might be worth a try.

I wish I had the money, and that I needed a camper.
Good Luck!

First of all, ask them to only contact you through mail, legally they have to honor your request. Next, pay them what you can every month. If you are making an effort to pay they should take this into consideration. Then tell them what is going on and that if they can't take a reduced payment you will have to file bankruptcy. This will almost for sure get them to deal with you.

grudgrime
I can't help you financially but if they call you at work you can tell them they are not allowed to call you at that number, and by law they cannot.

You can also ask them to defer a payment or two. This will allow you more time. Work with them. Ignoring their calls or requests is the last thing you want to do. Also talk to a lawyer or get free credit counseling to find out your other options.

Have them auction it off and pay the reduced balance..That is better than nothing

Sell it yourself, make a payment, or two, or simply give it back, and let the chips fall where they will. If you have to get rid of it at a loss, then you will, indeed, be responsible for the debt. However, most auctions have a guaranteed bottom on each item they sell, so the debt won't be too big. Also, you can demand proof of the sale price, and if the camper did, indeed, sell at auction. If it's bought by a dealer, then any subsequent sale of that thing can be garnished until your debt is paid. Make sure you take any and all items off the camper that were added on after you bought it and weren't part of the original loan...Then, get a second job driving a taxi or managing a McDonald's. Use your experience to pay off that difference. They've already wrecked your credit by the repo, so don't worry about the debt until they start bothering you. In the meantime, though, once you find out how big that debt is, start making whatever payments you can. They won't hound you until you're three months and three years behind. Then, you'll get a letter, a phone call, or a summons to court over the debt. You should respond to any and all summonses, but ignore the calls form collectors. Send the payments directly to the original creditor using your payment books...As long as you're paying them SOMEHTHING they'll accept it. If they refuse to accept, then they will lose in court at collection procedings. Document ALL conversations, and record them, if needed. Also, don't be afraid to make a reduced settlement for cash (get it in writing, too) once the debt is down to an amount you can pay off in one sum...But under no circumstances should you make any agreements by telephone with a collection agent. One alternative is to go to the dealership where you bought the thing and have them sell it for you. and offer them a 15% consignment commission. They might just take the offer, pay it off, minus the 15%, and keep you out of the big debt pit...Anyway, it's worth a try...

Try a debt consolidation company. It may not be the best answer to your problem, but at least it will help you lower your monthly payments.

Also, if you could think of things that you could do artistically, like edit papers or make jewelry, or sell things around your house, you can list things on ebay for some quick cash.

I know money shouldn't really be shared between family and friends, but sometimes, you just don't have a choice. Try to borrow some money, and set up a repayment interest fee.

I'm a young adult, but my father suggested this idea to me, because he was worried that someday, if we were ever in a bind and we were too scared or ashamed or embarrassed to ask him or my mom for money, that at least we could ask a family member and set up like 5% interest or something..

Don't let your credit be ruined. Take action as soon as possible because it could hurt you later on - you don't want to be paying off some outrageous credit card bill when you're retired.

Good luck and G-d bless.

Wow, Where would I even begin. I feel like my husband and I have been in several binds since we have known each other. A lot of times we had to live paycheck to paycheck and it's never been easy. One time my husband and I had a house payment and had to move and then make another house payment on top of the first one. We eventually had to file for bankruptcy because our house didn't sell. It was auctioned off and yes we did have to owe a lot still on the house. We couldn't afford that. We had no means to pay the left over amount after the house was auctioned. We honestly never thought we would ever have to file for banruptcy, but now we don't have any debt and we had another big bam in the face with my husband losing his job. We had help paying our bills, had no extra debt and my husband got a not-so-good job, but it will pay the bills for now. We have 2 little kids and let me tell you we have had to take each day at a time. It's not been easy, but we had to do what we didn't feel we could or wanted to do and you may have to go ahead and let them auction off the camper even though you may not get anything from it. I honestly think in the long run it will be the best thing. This is just coming from what we've been through.

We aren't doing the best money wise now, but we're making it and things are looking up. I hope I was able to help some with my experience story.
