Did you sign up to become a mystery shopper? If so, this could be the money to get you started, but you would be expected to actually use a good portion of the money to make purchases according to their instructions.
If that's not the case, by cashing the check, you may have effectively signed a contract for some kind of service or other obligation that you may not want. |

It's a scam. They are going to ask you for a fee or change. The check will bounce in about 2 months.

May also be a way for them to get some banking info such as your account number, and then perhaps give them access to that account. Don't cash it until you hear more from them. [you won't].
If you haven't received--in writing-- a contract stipulating what you are supposed to do with that check/money, and you never signed anything, then you are under no obligation to do anything. However, in the small print of any writing on the check, front or back, there may be contractual language that will obligate you to pay back the money if you ever endorse and deposit it. So, DON'T! |

Who is it from? If you didn't get from someone you expected that you may get money from... don't sign it. If you sign it, what are you signing for besides the money. I would proceed with a lot of caution. |

There are a lot of scams out there that involve very realistic cashiers checks. Sometimes even the banl can't tell the difference. I would be very leery of this. Definitly don't send them a "portion" of the money or any merchandise. I have never heard of a mystery shopper getting this much money. And in advance? Don't think this is legit hon. |

Did you apply to be a mystery shopper? I would think that mystery shopper companies wouldn't pay in advance for items you buy. Or else, they would lose LOTS of money, unless you signed a contract with the company to do so, in which you would know they were paying you in advance and would be expecting this check.
I would say, it's not legit. There are too many scams going on in our country like this and people need to start being held accountable. I know this is low on the legislations pecking list, but it needs to be dealt with. I've heard of too many innocent people losing everything.
You are very smart to put a hold on it and not spend it until you know for sure. |

they got me with a $ 3500.00 check...it wasn't real.
but they were very persistant to obtain the CASH not the check. and they spent like $ 20.00 overnighting the check to me. lucky me i still have the check. |

If you receive a cashier check for that amount of money do you think its free. Well i dont. If you spend that money you are going to put yourself in debt. Interest may accrue on the amount. Nothing is free. |

well, it's too good to be true... it's a scam for sure.. i am pretty much sure that the check will bounce, hence the bank will charge you for that check... next time, don't just deposit a check.. you can verify the check though if it is authentic in the internet, i'm not sure what's the website though. |
