You're putting yourself at risk by depositing this check or negotiating it. Be careful to read any writing that appears on the reverse side where you endorse the check. Some unscrupulous people or companies will use your signature on the check as an agreement to commit to payments from your account. Remember there is no such thing as a "free lunch." |

Yep, it is a scam. If anyone sends you a check and asks you to send them some money back out of it then it is a scam. |

TobyFox

If they are asking you to send them any money in return, it is a scam. They intend for you to try to deposit the check and then use your own $90 to pay the service charge. Then, the check bounces and they make off with your $90. |

spam, spam, SPAM. sorry as nice as it would be no one is going to just send you a check |

Its a scam. Take it to your bank. They'll be able to tell you for sure. Don't deposit it. Just wait for the all clear to come back. |

I would be weary of it, sounds to good to be true |

Whatever you do, don't cash it. If its to good to be true, it probably is. |

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I was scammed by one of those vacation packages a couple years ago. They sent me a check towards the vacation but there are soooo many stipulations and loopholes, you'll eventually give them money and get nothing back. |

give it to your bank until it clears. if its a scam, your bank should press charges. |

It could be a number that charges you 50 dollars a minute or more for being on the phone line.
They could ask you personal information they can use to set up credit cards in your name, like birth date, Social Insurance Number, etc.
The cheque may go through but you will eventually get a NSF charge and will have to give the money back to the bank.
The reason they chose Wells Fargo is for just that reason, so you can't find out that the account doesn't exist.
They can use your signature to direct debit your bank account.
And btw, I am a secret shopper and the most I EVER got paid for a job was 75 dollars which is rare and because they couldn't get anyone else to do it. (It was for a sperm bank lol) |

That is a scam. Don't cash it, take it to the police. |

Well, assuming you didn't sign up for this, I'd say it is a scam. They get unassuming people to either deposit the check, and somehow can get into your bank account (happened to a friend of mine a few years back), or, it's a bad check in the first place, and they "use" you to cash it..sending them the money back. So it's all on you when it catches back around to Wal-mart, your bank, etc.... |

if its not something your familiar with or you did not sign up for, i would leave well enough alone. scammers are now making checks that look legal and can pass inspection at a bank, until it has to clear issuing bank. call wells fargo again and press 0, that will usually get you to a person, or call a local branch and ask to speak to the branch manager. i would definitely not try to cash it, it sounds a little odd to me. |

sounds fishy. Also make sure that you are not signing up for any service. I often receive checks from credit card companies that upon cashing it would signify that i have signed for a service.
Money only comes easy for the lucky and the dishonest. |

i work for a bank and we verfiy checks all the time for this reason.....is it a check or money order?? you can contact wells fargo at 1-866-867-5568 select to spoke to a banker tell them about the check and you need to verfiy it they will either check it or at least give you the correct person, if it is a money order you can call whoever issued the money order (ex: western union, money gram, post office, etc...) but it sounds like the same scam that i got in the mail, i did what i just told you and found out the check was issued on 08/20/2007 and i turned it over the the police, and they are handling it now... |

It's scam i been there i know their games..... |

Don't do anything with it until you verify its authenticity.
Call Wells Fargo back or try them at 1-800-869-3557.
Don't hang up until you speak to someone. |

They sent you a check for $3900 and want you to send $3500 back to them...
it's not Spam, it's a Scam. The Check is a fraud. They cannot cash it with their own name, cause it's bad. But bank regulations don't allow them to cash a check that big anonymously.
So they dupe a stranger into doing the hard work for them, if you do it, they win $3500, if not, they lost the cost of paper and postage. So you should use option C, Call the FBI. |

Spam, ANYTHING, I REPEAT, ANYTHING to do with Money Gram OR Wells Fargo is a fraud... |

Did you sign up or do anything (go to training) If not it sounds like junk mail. It also sounds too good to be true. I just searched for the company it does not look like there is one for a mystery shopper. I would not cash it! |

Leave it with your bank until you investigate this further. If it's too good to be true it probably is. What right-minded person would pay that much cash just for someone to call a number. I would say it's a scam, but let your bank know about it so that they can take legal action if it is. |
