My Name is Slim Shady | I received an e-mail from yahoo.co.uk. Real or fake? |
They are saying that the winnings are from a website that I recently visited. They want me to pay $1,500 so the courier can deliver the consignment boxes threw U.S. customs. I told them I don't have that kind of money. Now they want me to contact my bank regarding the money. I check the website they gave me and it does not work. The money is being shipped from the Bank of Nigeria. How can I know if this is fake of real. |

How can you know it is fake? Because it is too good to be true; because they want cash from you first; because the website they gave you does not work; and because of the words "Bank of Nigeria". Otherwise, it sounds fine. |

LOL of course that is fake. I get emails like that all the time, don't fall for it, they just want your bank card information so they can scam you, or send you more spam. |

There are many of these scams out there, especially from Nigeria. If you are asked to send money, beware, they are scaring you into paying for something that doesn't exist. It's definitely fraud. Since these are mass-mailings, Yahoo doesn't always delete them. The only thing you can do is keep reporting them as SPAM. It might discourage them from sending any more. When you receive one, immediately delete it from your e-mail and don't open any attachments, they may contain viruses. |

To Avoid scams here is what i tell people...
All spam emails/unsolicited phone calls/letters and faxes are scams.
As a general rule - ANYTHING involving Western Union/money gram = Scam.
my Advice: Don't deal with anyone out of state or from a foreign country or Accept or cash checks from strangers and never use wire/bank transfer services.. you risk losing your $$ and your mind.
Remember, if it sounds too good
to be true, it probably is! NEVER(ever) give out your personal information to strangers online or offline! Always be on guard.
