a person that run their own business 8 years ago. I was awarded almost £8k. But they had no insurance and had already been made bankrupt.
If they are now in a better financial situation, could I sue them again to get my 8 grand. No doubt they owe others as well as myself. |

In Canada, when a person/business goes bankrupt, they have to have a meeting with all of their creditors (that's you) at the place where they filed for bankruptcy. At the meeting they try to figure out how everyone will get their money or they decide to write it off. If you sued and won before they went bankrupt then you should be able to garnisee them. Although this will cost you thru the courts. If the courts awarded you a judgement of X amount then it is up to you to collect. |

A lot hinges on the timings.
If you sued them AFTER they were bankrupt, and were awarded this (with the courts knowing they were bankrupt), then you have a hope.
If you sued them, and THEN they were made bankrupt, then I'm sorry, that was game over. The point of bankruptcy is that the Courts say that people AREN'T entitled to get their money back after all.
I would go to the CAB and ask them to advise whether you should re-sue. |

I think that a debt gets written off after 6 years but not 100% sure. |

In most courts you have to refile the courts findings every year to keep it in effect. If you don't the ruling expires and you cannot resue the individual. |
