Most banks won't do business with you unless you have an account with them. Also it would help if the ink on the 100 was dry before you tried to cash it! Just Kidding! |

The bank should have exchanged your $100 bill. They are legal tender. They will confirm that it is not counterfeit, but if they do not exchange the bill, report them to FDIC, Better Business Bureau, and management. You do not have to be a member of the bank or credit union to get change. Sounds like you just had a lazy teller. |

It depends. If it wasn't your bank, they have a right to say no. |

i dont think it's a law...but i think a lot of places have the right to refuse service to people...a lot of banks won't get you change unless you have an account there...not sure why it's kind of stupid... |

Banks usually do not provide services unless you are a customer with an account with them. In effect, you are asking ofr a service for changing a $100 bill without paying any service charges. Since banks are in business, they like any business expect to get paid for services provided. In the case of banks they make money one way of the other when have an account iwth them. |

There are no laws regarding this. The teller could have been afraid that it was a counterfeit bill and had no way to check. |

That's poor service. McDonald's will take a $100 after checking its validity with a pen. Banks are much more equipped to check the bills, plus they're backed by the government. If it is a fake will, the government confiscates it anyway. They're just practicing negative marketing on you, so you'll open an account. |
