These types of scams come through email mostly, but also still come through the mail. I got one once, didn't say I had to send them anything upfront. They send you a cashiers check, you cash it and send a portion elsewhere. Sounds good, right? Wrong, because that cashiers check is fake...not all banks catch it in time. So now you are part of an illegal transaction and your bank account is negative, and it is very hard to get that money back, if at all. If you ever get anything like this, contact the police...they have an entire office just for dealing with these scams.
Trust me, I used to work at a bank, and we got a list of about 10 checks every other day that were fake, to watch out for. |

Did you purchase the lottery ticket or did you receive an unexpected email indicating that you won? If you did not buy a ticket, I would be very suspicious. There are fake lottery notifications being sent via internet email. If you post more details about the lottery, maybe I can help you determine if this is legitimate. Or you can do your own research using the internet. Just remember one thing. If you truly are a winner, do not send any money to collect your winnings.
