No, you should not get offended..But, why should it, offend you..Too many people are getting offended, for no reason at all..If you do feel offended, then tell the person, That Offends me, and explain why..This country is becoming way to Political correct..My opinion.. |

Amigo means friend right? I don't see how that can be offensive. Unless there is a different context for its use.
Calling you 'Mexico' is a bit unusual, but I've heard of people addressed similarly like Bronx, Harvard, and Frenchie. There's really nothing really wrong with being associated with your heritage. |

No. You choose to be offended and that's what triggers your emotions. Be kind to others and treat them the way you wish you to be treated. Nicknames are usually meant as ways to get familiar with new people. Just relax. |

Nah......I'm multi-heritage/multi-cultural. ....I just say, "Hey, how ya doing?" ...regardless of what someone just said to me. ...I don't care what they may think because the only opinions that really matter to me are mine, my husband's, and my daughter's.

I would consider that a racial slur and be offended any where you went. However, if its a Mexican restaurant and the waiter is calling everyone "amigo" I would not get offended. "Mexico" is definitely derogatory though anywhere its said. |

I try to make sure someone really intends to offend me before I get offended. My british Grandfather in law always called me "that Yankee girl" but it was never meant to offend me. (which I wouldn't have thought of it as offensive anyway) There are too many angry people in this world without me being one of them. .....however, the next time it happens you might want to point out that certain people (not you of course) might take offense to such comments. |
