8:15 to 9:15 = 1 hour

9:15 to 10:15 = 2 hours

10:15 to 11:15 = 3 hours

11:15 to 12:15 = 4 hours

12:15 to 1:15 = 5 hours

1:15 to 2:15 = 6 hours

2:15 to 3:15 = 7 hours

3:15 to 4:15 = 8 hours

4:15 to 4:30 = 15 mins

8 hours 15 mins minus 30 mins = 7 hrs 45 mins

This is one of the most basic ways of finding out. If you set it up this way, you can't miss.

If you are getting paid by the hour, the best way to figure out the 45 mins pay is to imagine that this hourly pay is cut up into 4 pieces(which is what division is all about). Well, you would get 3 of those pieces.
