No they only call if they are interested so you have a great chance of getting the job. :) |

Well, if they are checking your references, you must have impressed them somehow. So consider this a favorible sign for you. But it does not mean you are AUTOMATICALLY getting the job. |

I would believe that they are interested, I know through the company I worked for we would only check references to potential future employees. |

It means you're still in the running, but don't get to excited - you may not be the only one still in the running. Still, good luck. |

you applied for the job. . . you gave your CV or resume. . . they screen these stuff and do a shortlist of applicants that qualify to their standards and they wont bother calling or checking up with your references if they didnt think you passed their standards or qualify to the job you are applying to, so if they checked on your references and contacted them, that means they are interested in you and if ever they get a positive response from your references then there is a big chance that they would call you again for another screening/interview or call you for employment. . . companies wouldnt waste their time calling and contacting you references if in the first place they are not interested. . . |

Guess Who?

Yes, it does and only the people they are interested in. |

yes it could be, but don't get your hopes too high, they maybe checking others too. So keep a positive spin and have a chat with them too if it's the direction you want to go, show interest. |

Most likely yes. If you passed the scrutiny of the application and your potential employer decides to call your references...you're in! Just hope your references put in a good word for you. |

Read the application or your signed permission form for the complete rundown. But, usually, they only check the references on the ones they are planning to keep. In fact, it could be illegal to check on the rest of them. |

i say no-- they mostly will do lots even drug screen is not a for sure thing even if you pass. some companies just write these things off they want you they will hire you |

Assuming you've been interviewed, they are probably very interested in hiring you. They generally don't bother checking on people who don't have a chance, since that's time-wasting and expensive. Good luck! |

Maybe.. |

yes that does mean they are interested because otherwise they would discard your resume at first glance, so think of it this way, as of now you are probably gunna get the job so long as there isnt anyone better or your references say bad things. |

There are no guarantees, but I would say checking your references is a very favorable sign. |

They check if they are interested, otherwise why waste the time. You are as good as in, unless something turns up. |
