Nope, you can self certificate up to 7 days illness. Anything after that you would require a doctors note.
If your not on the books then none of this applies as what you are doing is illegal.
Pay your taxes like everyone else. |

you shouldn't be working off the books, you have no rights and no need to get a doctors note as that is for people officially working and off sick for over a week.
if your not on the books you can get sacked whenever your boss feels like it with no chance of redundancy or appeal. And its illegal |

It depends on your contract with the employer - and as you don't have one, I suspect that you would not get paid for time off work anyway. I don't think you've got any hope here, as no-one sees a doctor for one day off ill. |

No by law you don't have to provide a sick note for 1 days absence. also, if your boss has anything to say about this, remind him that it is illegal for you to be working for him but not on the books! |

not necessary becouse you mentioned that you are working as a partime, you are not under the sponsorship of that company,,, but take note , you have to give them adviced if you are taking off.

no, usually you can have 3 days off before you need a doctors note. im not sure if that is law or just where ive worked but its been the same from working in a coffee shop to working at a posh office... call your GP and ask at their office, they will know. |

Where's the Kaboom??
|
You don't say where you;re from so i'm guessing UK? In the UK, the law is this: you can be off work for up to 7 days before you require a Dr's note. Anything more than 7 days, you will need a note. |

you don't have to produce a sick note until you have been off for three days |

Is it a Boy? Is it a Girl?

no, you only need a doctors note by law for 5 working days off sick.
You could tell your employer that if he wants a doctors note, you will happily get one as long as you are paid for the time off to get one, and he pays for the note (in the uk if you want a doctors note for less then 5 days off sick, you need to pay for it, i think its about £12) |

no usually if you take more than 4 days off then you need a doctors note, but check with your work or HR department they should give you the correct info |

In the UK, no.
You can take up to 5 working days off and all you have to do is give your employer a self-certificate (which you get off your employer) explaining why you were off.
If you take more than 5 working days off sick then yes - you DO need a medical note. |

there is NO LAW on this matter.
every company has a different policy. your boss does not sound the type to have a published employee manual so you don't have any recourse.
now, your boss is being unreasonable, because not everyone runs to the doctor when they are sick....but realistically, there is no law on sick notes. Every company/boss sets their own rules. For government jobs, you can take as much time off as you need, but when you return, if it is longer than 3 days of sick time you need a dr.s note. i've worked at places where the union rule is 5 days and other places where there is no union and management wants a note after 2. so just talk to your boss and tell him there is no note and he is being unreasonable demanding one. |

No. It requires if you are on leave for medically purpose for more than 2 days. but all it depends company to company. tehre are no such standerd rules for it |

You don't need a doctors note. You can self certify up to five days. I guess your boss doesn't believe the reason you were off and is trying to put the wind up you. Don't worry it isn't a legal requirement. lolx |

If you're not on the books and being paid cash, the law doesn't matter. It's whatever you two agree upon until you get caught. Simply tell him that the doctor didn't give you a note or you didn't see a doctor as appropriate. Ask him if he sees a doctor every time he's sick for one day.
Be polite and reasonable. If he's making a big deal about one day, and there isn't something you haven't told us, then he's being unreasonable. You should be able to politely point this out. |

No you don't. Your boss is a fool! Doctors won't do notes until you've been off for 5 days! Hand the fool a self certificate |
