As far as I know if you live in UK and you quit your job you wont get benefit straightaway because you made yourself unemployed. Think seriousl first before you walk out and it has to be for a very good reason. Why dont you try finding another job first then quit? |

In N.Y. (USA), if you QUIT your job, you get nothing. If you are FIRED, you can collect un-employment insurance. |

u have to sign on. if you quit your job with no notice or for misconduct of your terms of employment, depending on your circumstances, you can be barred for 6months. if you have kids or are in some way disabled they have to give you something. |

No you can't, to quit your job is making yourself unemployed voluntarily and the benefits system is really intended for those that are unemployed through no fault of their own, however it's been severely abused so much now. Bit stupid to quit a job when you have not got another one to go straight into, what a waste... |

In the UK, unfair as this may seem, if you resign from a job you are not entitled to any benefits. If you are dismissed you can but only after the time of the amount of paid notice you were given. Other factors come into play if you are a single mother etc.
For a standard ex employee you must be actively seeking a job to get the maximum benefit. |

not sure, but I think it is now 6 months in the UK, if you are fired you get them straight away. It was changed to stop people leaving a job because they could get more money on benefit. |

Used to be that you had to wait 6 weeks. But that was years ago.
Don't quit. It's easier to get another job while you still have your existing one. Employers don't employ quitters! |

you need to be searching for a new job but i think there may be factors like reasons behind not being employed....
can claim job seekers allowance i think, but it takes a while to be processed but will be backdated....
best bet is not to quit your job unless you have another lined up! |

Don't quit, just don't turn up for work or call them, they'll sack you soon enough |

if u quit ur job, u will not b able to claiom benefits straight away, because u make urself jobless. if they fire u or make u redundant then its easier to get benefits |
