Some of the stores do close, at least for a while , on Christmas Day. General retail store policy is if the electricity goes out, and stays off for some time, the customers are asked to leave the store and the doors are locked. Also, generally all doors are made with locks, not sure, even if you wanted to, you could just mass order doors without locks. |

I guess they lock the doors when removing the earnings from the cash registers |

In case of emergencies like hurricanes, floods, or riots, they have to be able to lock up the premises somehow, don't you think? What about when they have to do the daily tally, after every shift? This is common sense. |

Well, this is to secure the store. The thieves should not think that there is less security in the store, thinking he can steal anything and anytime.
If you would own a store which is open 24 hnrs a day, 365 days a year, why would you have locks on your doors? |

Holidays and/or emergency evacuation.
Also if all employees/owners are sick or unable to work! |

Fair question.
If it is called 7-11 (open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.), and yet is open 24/7, then why is it still called 7-11? |

It's how they bought the doors. There are no such thing as "24 Hour 7-11" doors. |

Good point. Maybe they haven't thought about that. Or in case of emergency or evacuation. |

I had a friend that worked at 7-11 once. They have locks because at night, if the person has to go to the bathroom, they lock the doors while they use the restroom. Also they lock the doors in the middle of the night for about 15 to 20 minutes while they count their drawer too. |

The 7-11 by my house isn't open twenty four hours... |

1. There are times during the day when money has to be brought in and out of the store. This calls for major security.
2. In the event there was an emergency and only one employee was currently available and had to leave the store.
3. Closings due to renovations.
4. Severe Weather conditions causing the store to close.
5. Employee illness
6. Attempted Robbery
On and on...... |
