I don't believe in God. What I rely upon is not a matter of belief. To understand why atheists think as we do, it is crucial that you understand the difference between faith and reason.
Faith does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. It means acceptance of dictated, handed-down assertions that must be accepted in their entirety, do not necessarily jibe with the evidence of reality, and do not stand up to analytical thought.
Call me an empiricist, but I want PROOF!
Reason and the scientific method have their bases in sound, rational, analytical processes. Moreover, the scientific method and reason leave room for error, and acknowledge the validity and usefulness of error as a method of learning the truth. Faith does not; it demands obeisance at all costs.
Personally, I rely on reason and rationality to show me the way through life. I am not infallible; but I do learn from mistakes, rather than just blindly accepting the tenet that everything is "Insha-Allah" or "God wills it."
It is difficult to explain the difference between faith and reason without becoming very long-winded and tiresome. Suffice it to say that there are too many unanswered (and unanswerable) questions in any form of faith to satisfy someone who is a true skeptic.
Having said all this, I still don't begrudge anyone their faith. You are free to believe anything you choose, as long as you don't use force or fraud to make me believe it, too. I am a respectful atheist.

Some ppl just dont believe in anyone. Some ppl choose not to believe in anything. The rest just believe in their momma and thats all they need. Cant always assume we believe in someone. i will say only god could create such fine women on this earth |
