If you forget your money from ATM will it be 'sucked' back in? I say yes my mum says no! Please help clear up!

If the money is not taken within a few seconds (don't know how many), then yes the notes are taken back into the machine.
Few years back I was so busy talking to someone at the cash machine I forgot to pick up my money and walked away still talking, then remembered about my money. I live in a small town, and when I realised what I had done and looked back I saw a couple who I knew using the machine, and asked if they had seen cash 'sticking out of the machine' when they got there and they said "No"
I had no reason to doubt them, but went to the bank the next day. I was told that the machine had indeed taken the money back.
Hope this puts your mind at rest

If your money is dispensed into a tray which it is laying loose it will stay there until someone else takes it, there is no way that the ATM can take your money out of the tray. If it is being held under a roller's tension it's possible it may be retracted within a certain time period by the ATM. Your credit card may also be retracted back into the ATM and then you will have to contact the bank or ATM server. to get your card back.

A banker friend told me it can be different depending on the kind of ATM, but if you walk off without taking your money at his bank, it takes it back in 15 seconds or so and recredits your account.

ask at the bank or try it on a sunday or a day when its quiet

not when there is a queue waiting =)

my card was swallowed by the ba***** ATM last week, yer i have money in the account, and i had to drive 60 miles to sort out a new card.. I'm far from happy with the bank.. so i'm going elsewhere now

I lost a 100 quid from a woolwich machine once and guess what? I had no proof. Oh and also as I was trying to get it back it ripped my knuckles to bits

I'm pretty sure it won't be, but it could, I don't think the machine would be programmed to suck it back in, due to people would be stupid to go to a ATM, insert the card, put in the pin number, then take the card and leave the money.. also without someone else taking the money

no. it will be sucked up by the next person. the atm will however suck up your card if you forget to take it

Not sure. Most likely the next person who walks past will put the money in their pocket. lol :-)

No, it will just sit there until someone comes along and takes it.
