HI Nat. I work for BT. You can give customer services a call and ask them to put you onto BT Privacy. This is basicly the Telephone Preference Sceme (or TPS for short) this will prevent any unwanted sales or marketing calls.

hi visit http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/ this is a service which allows you to opt out of all telesales marketing lists within the UK.
Any company that cold calls must compare thier contact list against a blacklist held by TPS. |

Contact the TPS. They will stop the calls if you register with them. You will still get some calls from overseas but most will stop. They are the official body set up by the government to stop these calls, and companies are legally bound to comply with their instructions. Please visit their website http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/
Even if you go to BT, this is the system they register you with, it's quicker to do it yourself. Also if you are not with BT it makes no difference if you go direct. |

Go on to the BT site and there is a link to the telephone prefernce service. Think you can now register on line. It takes a month for the calls to finally stop though. |

You'd be better off calling a hitman to take out these nuisance sales callers.
I usually just tell them to take me off whatever marketing list I'm on. Where I live, they have to do that if you tell them. I don't know if that applies to you as well. |

The telephone preference service is the first step. They have their own website, just google it.
If you are a BT customer, they offer a couple of useful services. One allows you to bar calls from "number witheld" callers, another allows you to bar specific numbers.
These are not totally foolproof, though. If a caller originates from abroad, it may still get through. |

Nat,
First register with the do not call list as other users have mentioned. This will not go into effect immediately. In the meantime, tell each call to remove your name from the list. By law, they have to document it and comply with your request. This also takes up to 24 hours. Prepare to repeat yourself a couple of times until everything is updated.
That should do the trick!
Hope this helps. |

If you're in the UK ring BT. First remember to take the name of the company that calls you - then you can specifically have that company barred. Sorry - dont know the number.
I had a company call to sell me mobile phone insurance - I kept telling them that "I DON'T have a mobile phone!" ... but she just kept on saying "It's a great deal, madam".
Good luck |
