cuz i go to high school in canada, and i just can't put up with such stupidity any more.. they play the national anthem(O Canada) every single day... and u gotta be standing during the song.. plz specify what state u go to school in. thanks |

The Pledge of Allegiance is not banned from public schools in the United States. We said this every morning when I was in school in the 80's and 90's in South Carolina but no one was forced to participate. We were also given a "moment of silence" each morning as well. This time was given to individuals who wished to pray silently. Although a prayer was not mandatory all had to refrain from speaking during this short period of time.
My daughter has gone to school in both South Carolina and Massachusetts. At her school in SC they say the pledge each day, followed by their student motto, and then a moment of silence.
At her school in Massachusetts, they said the pledge each morning and it was followed by the singing of our National Anthem.
I have also worked in school which only played an instrumental version and signing was optional.
Yes there is controversy over the words "One nation under God", but again the pledge has not been banned in our Nations schools. Some schools may refrain from offering the children an opportunity to recite it in unison, but other still do. |

There is big controversy over the fact is says "under God".

Nopee. When I was in kindergarten we used to sing that "My country tis of thee..." song after saying the pledge, but I think it was pretty much over after that.
However, when I was in high school, I used to sing the national anthem before the boys varsity basketball games!
It would either be sung or played over an intercom for sport events. |

I went to school in Los angeles in the 70's 80's in the 70's we recited the pledge of allegiance everyday before school. it was banned in the 80's

No but we used to say the pledge of allegence about 15 yrs ago I'd say. But thats been brought to a hault long ago. I'm from Minnesota! So i'd say we havn't done it for 15 years, cause I don't think I had to in sixth grade. |

Nope, we have the pledge of allegiance once a week at my school. We used to say it everyday in elementary school. We have to stand too and place your right hand over your heart. I'm in Ohio. |

Aactually the school recites the pledge of allegiance. Most of the students say it along with thhe person over the loudspeaker. I don't go to any school (graduated a few years ago) but I live in NY. People are required to say the Pledge of Allegiance, but they have to stand for it! |
