This is a thoughtful question..........Yes, this is a real possibility. America has always stood for the premise of what our country was founded by our forefathers. Today we have so many people that want to enjoy the "freedom" of our Nation but do not want to accept the responsibilities. Many people do not hold to the same beliefs of the Bill of Rights or the Constitution...........they think of self and the dollar. Many of the same 7 reasons Rome fell exist in the United States today. Others have touched on the reasons, this weakens our nation. We need to take back the strengths that we held true in the 20th century and prior years. |

Why? All world-powers start by offering freedoms, justice, a greater way of life, and are well founded, according to law and order.
As time passes, greed, beligerance, in-fighting, corruption, and a disregard for the freedoms undermine them untill they are conquered by their neighbors.

If we continue in the direction that we are going I think we will have trouble keeping the form of government that we have. Things have not been good, we are at war that most of the population don't agree with, we have a president that is very unpopular, the U.S. is divided more into blue states and red states. The deficiat is at an all time high. It really doesn't look good. Good question by the way. |

No, we are more organized than Rome ever was. Learn from others mistakes, we don't need to go out and bomb every damn country that opposes us. In the future, if that continues, another country will lear our military secrets and use them against us. That is my piece of mind. Enjoy contemplating everything I just said! |

Rome's downfall was caused by Barbarian attacks on the boder of the empire, internal religion conflicts starting with the spread of Christianity and Catholocism, the Emperor's governors all battling each other instead of the Barbarians over who gets to hold the throne, and the treasury being depleted.
Of these reasons, only two are in effect today: our national army was mobilized and sent to Iraq to capture Sadaam Hussein, and our multi-trillion dollar debt. Both of these problems were and are being caused by Bush's STUPID acts, and will hopefully be corrected by Bush's successor. |
