In the terms of a vehichle, what is the definition of a lemon?
I was wondering if my vehichle was a lemon or not. This is for indiana if that matters

A lemon is a vehicle sold to you under the impressione that it runs smoothly but it turns out to be completely false. Someone who knows the ins and outs of cars can make a car run and sound good for a couple of days and after they sell it to you it'll break down on you and you'll later find out everything in the car was a piece of junk!

a lemon is a car that has persistant mechanical problems, or has been in a wreck and had cheap body work done to it.

California has a lemon law which clearly defines a lemon. Indiana may have one, too. If so, it should be possible to get a copy of the relevant criteria from your state consumer affairs office. Check the web for their address. They may even have the entire thing on the web.

You can look up lemon law on the Internet and it will tell you how it's handled in your state. I live in Wisconsin. I had a brand new Chevy pick up and it was in the shop 3 times for the same pretty major problem and I didn't physically have the vehicle for 45 of the 1st 60 days I owned it, due to it being in the shop. I kept very detailed records and wrote several letters to GM and eventually (8 months later), they put the total cost of the vehicle when new towards the purchase of another GM product. In the end, I got a brand new truck for $84, the price difference of getting the new model year truck.

A lemon is a car that's a piece of garbage, and some weasel thought it'd be a clever idea to sucker somebody into buying it. Unfortunately that sucker was you.

If you are looking for legal definition of Lemon Law as it pertains to a vehicle purchase, then here you go! Please note that Lemon Laws are specific to State you live in!!!

n0h0pe
A vehicle that has constant problems. You may have legal rights if you think you have lemon. Many states have lemon-laws. For more info I found an article here:

a "lemon" is usually a car that keeps haveing problems one after the other... before "the lemon law" came into effect a number of yrs ago and people could'nt get satisfaction from a dealership, every so often you would read about a dissatisfide customer painting his junker car lemon yellow and riding around the dealership all day. [ the good old days]....... thank goodness for japanese tech and craftmanship you dont see nearly as many lemons as before

The kind of car that you put more money into than it was worth.....always constantly fixing it (transmission problems, constant under the hood problems, etc..)....not regular car maintenence, that's a must such as oil change, filter change, wheels rotated and balanced, etc. will always be a given.
