A nintendo Wii is the must have thing at the moment. They are sold out everywhere. As soon as any come in they're out of stock again within a day. I managed to get one though!! :-)

If I knew what was the must have thing, it would be too late for you to market it.
The trick is to see what is not in the UK at the moment, but which would sell well if it got here.
You suggest China is leader in this field, then look at what they are marketing, and imagine what would work here, even imagine a new use for a product which would be of benefit in the UK.
This is not the place to get the leads, Ipods and MP3's are still popular, as are PlayStation 3's, but it is too late to get in on that market.
