That's really unfortunate but maybe your mom ought to look into some financial assistance...sounds like she'll qualify! Plus, if your mom gets welfare assistance, they'll attach your dead beat dad's wages and he'll have to pay it back one way or another.

ahh.. unfortunately, w/ $1k you cannot do anything.
How much is your rent?
You should make at least 3 times more than your rent.
For ie:
Room rent=> $800.00 (Studio)
then you should able to make at least $2.4k - $2.5k Gross Income or if you can make it to be Net Income even better.
