The letter says that I have won £5,000 worth of jewellery. it also asks for £9.99 ( shipping charges ).
IS IT A CON OR IS IT GENUINE? |

Its probably a con. I received a letter telling me I'd won 2 cheques, one for £10,000.00 and the other was blank. I could put the amount I wanted in, up to the amount £37,000.00.To receive them I had to send £20. to cover the administration fees. I filled it in and sent it back, without a stamp, telling them to deduct the £20. from my winnings and send me the rest. Needless to say I never heard from them again. Its not the first one I've been sent . They come from Africa but the return envelope goes to Holland. I just keepsending them back with the same message. |

did you enter a competition? I guess you didnt! This is a scam, I regularly get spam emails telling me I have won things. These companies send out hundreds of letters each day and thats how they make their money from that 9.99 shipping fee. There is always a catch! Perhaps they say, you only get the jewellery if you stay in a luxury hotel for 10 nights. Believe me, you dont get things for nothing like that. If it was something like a state funded lotto I would say go ahead, but these are not genuine organizations. I know 9.99 is not alot to lose, but if you send them the money, it is likely that you will receive several more of these letters once they know they caught you out once. |

Con. If you've won a prize in a draw you haven't participated in, it's a scam. No legit drawing would ask you to pay to recieve your prize! Ten pounds isn't much but if they multiply it by all the people they send the letter to, they'll soon have thousands.
